Bypass channel project enters final design stage

A. Lee Graham

Reporter

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Fort Worth district has entered into the final planning phase for the bypass channel expected to help create Panther Island.

Hoping to maintain the existing project schedule, planners say the bypass design phase will wrap up in time for construction to begin immediately after bridge construction is finished.

“We are excited to continue our working relationship with the … project team,” said J.D. Granger, executive director, Trinity River Vision, in a news release.

Design is expected to occur during fiscal years 2015 and 2016. The project is a Corps of Engineers civil works collaboration with the Tarrant Regional Water District, Tarrant County, city of Fort Worth and Streams and Valleys Inc.
