UNT System Chancellor Lee Jackson announced the appointment of a 17-member Presidential Search Advisory Committee to seek candidates to lead the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.

Dr. Michael Williams currently serves as Interim President, and was appointed in December 2012 following the firing of Dr. Scott Ransom.

The Presidential Search Advisory Committee membership includes representatives of the UNTHSC faculty and administrators, student body, UNT System Board of Regents and other education, business and civic leaders.

“The Health Science Center has made significant progress over the last decade, and it has the potential for continued growth in its educational, research and patient care programs,” Chancellor Jackson said in a news release. “This role provides a unique opportunity to lead the organization in creating solutions for a healthier community.”

The UNT Health Science Center comprises the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and the UNT System College of Pharmacy (opening in fall 2013). Assisting with the search is Alberto Pimentel, managing partner of Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, Inc., a national executive search firm with a specialization in higher education executive leadership.

The Presidential Search Advisory Committee will meet later in April to set a schedule and begin the process of advertising and interviewing for this position, according to a news release from the school.

They will make a report to Chancellor Jackson, who will recommend a candidate to the UNT System Board of Regents. Appointment of the permanent President for UNT Health Science Center is anticipated this summer.
