Residents asked to speak out on downtown post office’s futureDecember 6, 2013
What should become of the downtown post office on West Lancaster Avenue?
Residents are encouraged to share their views as U.S. Postal Service officials consider pulling out of the historic structure. Recent years have seen the agency face declining revenues and more post office space than it needs.
The city of Fort Worth has discussed purchasing the building as a potential City Hall, but no specific plan has been proposed.
The planning process kicked off at the Dec. 3 City Council meeting, where a postal official outlined the process for relocating the postal service’s retail business. The next step involves receiving resident comments, expected to play a role in whether officials decide to sell or close the building.
Residents may mail comments by Dec. 18 to Sandra Rybicki, USPS Facilities Implementation, 7800 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 400, Dallas, Texas 75247-4217
