The Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition elected new officers for 2013-2015: chairman, Gary Fickes, Tarrant County commissioner; vice chairman, Jungus Jordan, Fort Worth city councilman; secretary/treasurer: Mark Riley, Parker County judge; assistant secretary/treasurer, Patricia Ward, Tarrant County community development director; and past chairwoman, Mary Lib Saleh, mayor of Euless.
Michael Connors is the new president-elect of the Texas Physical Therapy Association. He will begin his three-year term as president in 2014. Connors practices in the Patient Care Center at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He graduated with a biology degree from Richard Stockton State College in 2001, received his master’s degree in physical therapy from Rutgers University in 2003 with honors, and earned his doctor of physical therapy degree from Temple University in 2008. He was board-certified in orthopedic physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2011.
Deanya Kueckelhan Cocanougher, a partner with Cantey Hanger LLP, has been elected to the board of Act Beyond, a global initiative that bridges the gap between traditional missions and Christian relief and development. Cocanougher, whose practice focus is in the areas of consumer law and privacy and data security law, previously served on the inaugural board of the Fannin County Family Crisis Center.
David S. Cozzens is the new associate vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of campus life at Texas Christian University, effective Jan. 1. Cozzens comes to TCU from the University of Wyoming, where he has been associate vice president for student affairs/dean of students since 2007. He is a licensed psychologist who has built coalitions on alcohol abuse, sexual abuse and suicide prevention. He is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, where he also earned a master’s degree in guidance and counseling education. He received a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of North Dakota.

Evan D. Peterson, head of school at Fort Worth Country Day, was honored for his leadership to the school with the “Best Is Yet to Come” Hero Award during the Fort Worth City Council’s Oct. 29 meeting. This award is sponsored by the city of Fort Worth, BNSF Railway and Score a Goal in the Classroom. Peterson has led Fort Worth Country Day since July 2002. He served as Upper School principal from 1986-1992. Peterson left in 1992 to serve as head of school at Hampton Roads Academy in Virginia and returned to FWCD in 2002.
Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co. and the Army & Air Force Exchange Service named Marine Sgt. Jason Simms the 2013 Dickies American Hero of the Year. They also awarded Simms $25,000 in recognition of his service to his country. Simms survived an attack in Iraq that left him critically injured. He endured more than 20 surgeries and learned to walk again and now works with the Navy’s Human Resource Service Center and the Wounded Warrior Program to help injured veterans find employment after they return from service.
Cantey Hanger LLP received a Tier 1 ranking in the 2014 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ Best Law Firms. Cantey Hanger was the top-rated area firm in the practice areas of employee benefits (ERISA), environmental, litigation-environmental, trusts and estates, litigation-trusts, and estates and taxes. Caroline Trujillo of Bedford received an Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship. Trujillo earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Texas Tech University and will work in FleishmanHillard’s Dallas office.
Kristy Libotte Keener, the graphic design coordinator at North Central Texas Council of Governments, recently won three International Gold Marcom Awards for graphic design. One was for the logo designed for the new Community Eye Clinic housed in First Christian Church in downtown Fort Worth.
In an Oct. 25 ceremony at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., Lockheed Martin presented its NOVA Award to 60 employees from its Aeronautics and Missiles and Fire Control businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. James A. Arness, a senior engineer from Grapevine, won a special recognition award for Technical Innovation for conceptualizing and developing a process for assembling F-35 aircraft. John G. Clark, an open systems and software senior manager from Weatherford, won the individual NOVA for Technical Excellence for his expertise in Open Systems Architecture. Five Texas Health Resources hospitals have been recognized as Top Performers on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the country’s top accrediting agency for hospitals. The hospitals were recognized for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care. The ratings are based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported during 2012. Hospitals and the quality measures for which they are being recognized are: Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle, pneumonia and surgical care; Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, stroke and hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services; Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital Arlington, heart attack, heart failure and surgical care; Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman, pneumonia, surgical care and stroke; and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall, pneumonia and surgical care.
The Cornerstone Credit Union League has awarded TCC Credit Union its Juntos Avanzamos – or Together We Advance – designation for its efforts to serve the financial needs of Hispanic families. Cornerstone officials will present TCC CU with a Juntos Avanzamos flag on Nov. 18 at the credit union’s Fort Worth branch at 4312 Town Center Drive.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the firearms industry trade organization, has recognized Shoot Smart’s Alliance/Fort Worth location as a 5 Star facility.
Mouser Electronics Inc. received the top Electronics Choice Industry Award for Community Activism-Social or Educational Cause, from the Electronic Components Industry Association for its support of the 2013 FIRST Robotics Competition season.
Bloom Real Estate Group added five new agents – Michelle Perry, Carol Swanson, Lisa Bransom, Bernadine Neff and Veronica Stimson. A licensed Realtor since 2002, Perry was an associate with Williams Trew Sotheby’s International Realty for more than six years and a top producer on the Dallas-based Dave Perry-Miller team, specializing in luxury residences. She attended Louisiana State University and is a historic house specialist and a member of Preservation Dallas and Historic Fort Worth Inc. Swanson joins Bloom after seven years with Williams Trew Sotheby’s International. She began her real estate career in Fort Worth 13 years ago working with one of the city’s top producers. Bransom spent two years with Re/MAX Associates 1 in Burleson. A licensed agent since 2012, Bransom is in the top 20 percent of Realtors in Burleson and Fort Worth and is on track to close $4 million in sales volume. Neff, broker associate and director of operations, joins from Keller Williams after 10 years as a top producer. Previously licensed in California, Neff was integral in starting two real estate offices in California and was awarded top recruiter for the launch of the Keller Williams Johnson County office. She graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in finance. Stimson, who was recently licensed, has in the last three years purchased, flipped and sold more than 26 Fort Worth-area houses. Originally from Sweden, she has lived around the world, including 12 years in Manhattan and seven years in China, where she worked for a prominent marketing company. Stimson is a graduate of The Fashion Institute in Manhattan.
The Woodmont Co. hired four new brokers: Jacob Cox, vice president; Erik Coslik, rejoining as vice president; Randy Bell, associate; and Jordon Gronholz, associate. Cox specializes in landlord representation and tenant representation. He previously was director of retail for Cushman & Wakefield and was president/managing member at Colliers International, New Mexico. Coslik, who had been with Woodmont for 12 years, specializes in landlord leasing of existing projects and new developments. Bell focuses on the sale of retail properties, business development and database creation. Gronholz specializes in landlord representation and tenant representation. Before joining Woodmont in 2013, Gronholz worked at Catalyst Commercial, a Dallas-based research firm.
CCRA Travel Solutions promoted Peter E. Pincus to chief commercial officer and Mary Wiley to vice president of marketing. Pincus will help identify new business opportunities for the company’s divisions globally, and Wiley will develop strategic marketing plans to support CCRA’s continued growth. A travel industry veteran of more than 33 years, Pincus has overseen CCRA’s international expansion as president of the CCRA Global Network Division since 2010. Wiley brings more than 22 years of experience, including an extensive hotel marketing and sales background. Before joining CCRA in 2008 as director of marketing, Wiley worked at Cendant Corp., where she implemented the award-winning “Ya Gotta Ramada” marketing campaign and was responsible for creating the sales data systems reporting department.
