Applied Natural Gas Fuels plans LNG platform in Midlothian

Reporter

Applied Natural Gas Fuels Inc. of Westlake Village, Calif. has announced plans to build a liquefied natural gas production platform in Midlothian, just southwest of Dallas in Ellis County.

The platform promises up to five liquefiers with a daily production capacity of 86,000 gallons per liquefier and on-site storage of 1.5 million gallons of liquefied natural gas.

Land already has been secured, with the permitting process already under way.

“The Midlothian plant is an important step in [Applied Natural Gas Fuels’] continuing efforts to expand its footprint to provide cost-effective LNG to a growing number of customers,” said company president and CEO Cem Hacioglu in a news release.

The Midlothian plant, expected to reach operation in mid-2015, will focus on end users in the trucking, oil and gas, rail, marine, remote power and mining markets currently using diesel fuel and are interested in converting to a lower-cost, cleaner-burning alternative.

“LNG is a proven fuel with a strong track record that will continue to move us towards energy independence and a better way to fuel America,” Hacioglu said.

Upon commissioning all five liquefiers at the Midlothian plant, the company’s total production capacity will exceed 600,000 LNG gallons per day.

Applied Natural Gas is the second-largest producer and marketer of liquefied natural gas for transportation and industrial markets nationwide. It also provides infrastructure and advisory services in LNG storage, fueling and delivery systems. More information is available at www.appliedlng.com.
