Gas line compressor regs up for Fort Worth City Council vote

The hotly debated gas line compressor issue resurfaces at the next Fort Worth City Council meeting, where amending the city’s setback and noise regulations is expected to be considered.

Pre-council begins at 3 p.m., with the regular meeting starting at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 1000 Throckmorton St.

If approved, the proposed rules would allow compressors only in planned development districts with Zoning Commission and council approval and in all industrial zoning districts.  Proposed changes also would require a 1,000 foot setback for all gas line compressors in non-industrial districts and that all compressors meet specific noise standards.

Gas line compressors pressurize gas to be transported through pipelines. They have raised concerns among some residents regarding potential noise, safety and pollution issues associated with such facilities.
