Mouser Electronics Inc. was off to the races June 6 when the company hosted Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan at its Mansfield corporate headquarters.
The IndyCar champ arrived on Mouser’s campus in a helicopter. He was then led by a police escort and the Mansfield Legacy High School Marching Band, a car procession featuring a classic Cadillac convertible and Packard Roadster that then drove Kanaan and his wife Lauren, along with Mouser President and CEO Glenn Smith and Mansfield Mayor David Cook through the cheering crowds to a public ceremony. Cook presented Kanaan with the key to the city and proclaimed June 6 as Tony Kanaan Day in the city of Mansfield. A traditional Indy 500 milk toast was given to honor his historic victory.
Mouser, a top design engineering resource and global distributor for semiconductors and electronic components, is an official partner of the 2013 KV Racing Technology No.11 IZOD IndyCar Series team.
During the ceremony, Smith thanked this year’s co-sponsors for their support of the Mouser racing program. They include TTI, Sager, Amphenol, BIVAR, ebm-papst, Fluke, Hammond Manufacturing, Harwin, LEMO, Molex, Murata, NKK Switches, Ohmite and Phoenix Contact.
Mouser first sponsored IndyCar in 2011 as a way to communicate its performance-driven business model and promote technology and how it affects IndyCar racing.
Kanaan finished third in the June 8 Firestone 550 Race at Texas Motor Speedway.
“We’re fourth in the championship and we think we can keep up the momentum from the win at Indianapolis going forward,” he said.
