J. Taylor & Associates LLC promoted David Antonelli to tax manager and welcomed Rainey Smith as senior manager in accounting and assurance services and Kevin Henry as an associate in its consulting services division. Antonelli joined the firm in 2008. His experience includes corporate, partnerships, estate and trust, and individual taxation as well as business consulting and financial reporting services. His client list includes food service, medical practices, professional services, family-owned businesses and high-net-worth individuals. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Texas at Arlington. A certified public accountant in Texas, he is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs, the Fort Worth Chapter of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Steer Fort Worth young professionals group. He is the president of First Command Toastmasters, Toastmasters International.
Smith has more than 12 years of experience in public accounting and private equity accounting and finance. Before joining J. Taylor & Associates, she worked with capital markets, most recently with TPG Capital. Before that, she was a member of the audit division of KPMG, serving clients in financial services, real estate, manufacturing, government, health care and not-for-profit organizations. Smith earned her bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Texas Tech University and is a certified public accountant licensed in Texas. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Tech University Alumni Association.
Henry has experience in the health care industry after several years in administration of for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals. He has engaged clients in the areas of pre- and post-transaction evaluation and implementation, capital planning, service line and facility expansion, strategic planning, operational assessments, performance benchmarking, physician compensation and startup advisory. Henry received a bachelor’s degree in management and an MBA in health care administration specialization from Baylor University.

Keeton Moore has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president at PlainsCapital Bank in downtown Fort Worth. Moore serves as commercial loan officer and is responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships and interviewing potential clients to evaluate risk. He also monitors and manages loan portfolios to evaluate and mitigate risk to the bank. Moore earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA in finance and real estate from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Mutual of Omaha Bank promoted Robert F. Strong to regional president for the bank’s east region. Based in Dallas, Strong will oversee the strategic growth and management of the bank’s operations and loan portfolio across Florida, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas. Strong joined Mutual of Omaha Bank in 2008 as Texas state president and has been responsible for establishing the bank’s presence throughout the state. Under his leadership, Mutual of Omaha Bank has opened six locations in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston and has assembled a team of 71 employees statewide. Strong also has overseen the formation of an energy lending group in Houston. With 30 years of experience, he is a veteran Texas banker and has had executive officer positions at several Texas banks. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance from UT-Arlington and is a graduate of the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma and the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Pat Alford, a 21-year veteran at PwC US, has been appointed as managing partner for its Fort Worth office. Alford will lead the efforts to serve PwC’s client base in the Fort Worth market while supporting the growth and development of the firm’s talent. He succeeds David Evans, who is relocating to New York. Alford will continue serving his existing clients in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. He is a certified public accountant in Texas and Nebraska and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
The Weaver accounting firm has promoted Adam McCane to partner in assurance services. He has more than nine years of public accounting experience in audit and assurance services, including audit engagements for privately and publicly held business enterprises in the financial services and oil and gas industries. McCane primarily works with financial entities including banks, hedge funds and other investment companies as well as oil and gas exploration and production organizations, and with the public sector, where he has provided audits of local city and county governments and school districts. He joined Weaver’s Fort Worth office in 2004 from Snow Garrett, an accounting firm in Weatherford. McCane is a member of AICPA, TSCPA and its Fort Worth chapter and the Government Finance Officers Association’s Special Review Committee. He serves on the board and finance committee for the Presbyterian Night Shelter of Tarrant County. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Texas Christian University, instructs various continuing professional education accounting courses and has written several articles for banking, education and accounting publications.

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Nancy P. Paup of Fort Worth to the Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2019. A TWU alumna, Paup is a fundraising consultant and former corporate relations and membership manager of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. She is a member of the board of the TWU Foundation and the Schreiner University Board of Trustees and is campaign vice chairman of the Texas State Historical Association’s “A Future for Our Past” fundraising drive. She also is a member of Certified Fund Raising Executives International and the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a graduate of Leadership Texas. In Fort Worth, she is a member of Jewel Charity, the Junior League and Leadership Fort Worth.
Everest College has named Kimberly Oppermann president of its Fort Worth South campus. Oppermann brings more than 20 years of education and counseling experience to the position. She oversees all academic and non-academic functions on campus, including admissions, accreditation, compliance and outcomes. She comes to the Fort Worth South campus from Everest Institute’s Austin campus, where she had been president since 2008. During that time, she led the campus to achieve the highest compliance scores within the Everest system for five straight years, and she played a key role in decreasing student attrition as well as increasing student and employee satisfaction. Before joining Everest in 2008, Oppermann was principal in the Dime Box Independent School District, where she oversaw K-12 student services and activity programs. She previously was lead high school counselor in the Manor Independent School District and elementary counselor in Elgin and Lexington ISDs. She was honored as the 2010-2011 Everest President of the Year for the South Division and was the 2010 recipient of Everest’s CEO Award of Excellence.

The Central Hockey League named Fort Worth Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong the 2012-2013 CHL Coach of the Year, the first of his coaching career. Wildfong has led Fort Worth, so far, to the third-best record in the CHL and the team’s sixth consecutive postseason appearance since he took over for the 2007-2008 campaign. A native of Clinton, Ontario, he won his 200th career game with the Brahmas this season. In six seasons behind the bench, Wildfong has posted a 217-135-36 record in the regular season. He is one of only two coaches in franchise history with a winning record – along with Bill McDonald, who went 41-17-11 during the 1997-98 campaign. His 217 wins are the most in franchise history, well above the next-highest total of 62 by Terry Menard. Wildfong is also 31-22 in postseason play. In the 2009 playoffs, he led the team to a 12-4 record and a Ray Miron President’s Cup Championship.
Teresa Nelson, owner of Teresa’s Treasures, received the Burleson Rotary Service Above Self award for her work as founder and director of a local nonprofit, Support Our Soldiers, to help deployed military personnel receive food and supplies.
Jason Forrest, chief sales officer and management coach at Forrest Performance Group, won a gold Stevie Award in the Sales Training or Education Leader of the Year category at the 2013 Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service.
Arlington financial adviser Derrick Kinney was named to the Chairman’s Advisory Council at Ameriprise Financial. This honor recognizes advisers in the top 1 percent of the firm for achieving prestigious levels of performance and setting the standard of excellence in the areas of client service, professional commitment and corporate values.
Rick Ikeler, senior vice president in the Dallas office of SRS Real Estate Partners, has been recognized by CoStar Group Inc. as a Top Retail Leasing Broker in the Dallas-Fort Worth market for 2012.
The U.S. Postal Service recognized Xpressdocs, headquartered in Fort Worth, with its Mail Solutions Award for the company’s support of the success of mail and its commitment to a successful business relationship with the Postal Service. Xpressdocs was one of 21 companies recognized this year by the Postal Service at the National Postal Forum.
For the 10th straight year, the Fort Worth Housing Authority has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The award is issued by the national nonprofit Government Finance Officers
Longhorn Harley-Davidson of Grand Prairie has been awarded the title of No.1 Service Department in the World by Harley-Davidson Motor Co. This marks the third year in a row Longhorn Harley-Davidson has won this award.
The United States Chamber of Commerce awarded the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce with 4-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures and positive impact on the community. The Grapevine Chamber was one of 19 accredited in Texas out of 400 chambers statewide. 2013 is the first year the Grapevine Chamber has applied for accreditation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Ten area dealerships have received the President’s Award from Ford Motor Co. for outstanding customer satisfaction in 2012. Customers are surveyed and only dealerships receiving the highest marks related to sales and service satisfaction are eligible. Only three D-FW area dealerships were awarded the Triple Crown, which consists of the President’s Award, the Ford Top 100 for sales and the Premier Club award for customer service. Triple Crown winners are Five Star Ford North Richland Hills, Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford in Garland and Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford in Carrollton. Winners of the President’s Awards are: AutoNation Ford Burleson, AutoNation Ford South Fort Worth, Five Star Ford Plano, Grapevine Ford Lincoln, North Center Ford in Richardson, Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford Lewisville and Town East Ford in Mesquite.
For four years in a row, the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University has been ranked in the top six in the nation by recent graduating students surveyed by Bloomberg Businessweek for the annual Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking, and in the top 30 overall ranking. TCU moved up to No. 6 in the student survey, behind the University of Notre Dame (1), Cornell University (2), University of Virginia (3) and University of Richmond (4), and ahead of all other Texas undergraduate business schools: Southern Methodist University (9), University of Texas at Austin (11), Texas A&M University (23), University of Texas at Dallas (37), Baylor University (60) and the University of Houston (105). The Neeley School also ranked tops in Texas in academic quality, tying with UT-Austin at No. 35; they are the two highest ranked Texas schools in that category.
Mouser Electronics Inc. hired Jeff Newell as senior vice president of products, actives and passives. Newell will oversee semiconductors, embedded solutions, development tools, optoelectronic, LEDs and lighting. Newell comes to Mouser from Texas Instruments, where most recently he was director of distribution for the Americas. During his nearly 22 years at TI, Newell also was corporate account manager, technical sales representative and technical sales associate. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business.
Newell is a former board member of the Electronic Component Industry Association. He served on the committee that oversaw the merger of National Electronic Distributors Association and Electronic Components Association into ECIA, and served on the board from 2006-2012.
Thumbtechs Corp. selected Diana J. Combs as its first creative/marketing director. Combs will manage all of the firm’s campaigns in social media, print, e-blasts, promotional mailings and all ancillary promotions. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas Christian University in 2012 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design. She most recently was a designer with SullivanPerkins in Dallas. At TCU, Combs was the visual editor of the TCU Image Magazine and was the graphic designer for the Student Affairs Marketing Department.
